Thought on Tap: Confronting Legacies of Voter Suppression

In many ways, the history of U.S. democracy is the history of voting rights.  Since the 18th century, the question of who is able to vote has been one of the nation’s most hotly contested issues, and one of the most vital for the health of U.S. democracy. While we often think of these concerns as matters of the past, the 2020 presidential election has demonstrated that equal voting rights are still not available to all U.S. citizens. A few questions to be considered are: How are voting rights suppressed today? What is motivating voter suppression? And how can we combat voter suppression in 2020 and beyond? Join us on Thursday, November 12, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm to listen to an illustrious panel of experts on these questions and more, shortly after what is sure to be one of the most dramatic elections in U.S. history. We’ll provide some food for thought, you set up your own tap for drinks and join us as we tackle these and other important questions.
